COCHINS

Eggs:

  • Medium brown
  • 150 eggs annually

About:

Cochins are gentle, quiet and docile. Cochins are also known to be good pet hens for the garden, as they are tame and regarded as one of the most ‘friendly’ chicken breeds. Cochins are well known as good mothers, even as foster mothers for other breeds.  Cochins are great at being broody hens, lay eggs reliably and are relatively quiet. Roosters are seldom aggressive and rarely quarrel.

BARRED ROCKS

Eggs:

  • Large brown
  • 200+ eggs annually

About:

Barred Plymouth Rocks or "Barred Rocks", as they're called, are one of the most popular dual-purpose chickens on small farms today.  Barred Rocks are typically friendly, great layers of large brown eggs and able to withstand cold weather quite nicely. Though they tolerate confinement, they're most happy when they get to range freely.

LEGHORNS

Eggs:

  • Large - XL white
  • 280+ eggs annually

About:

Leghorns are active, ambitious chickens. They are always willing to work, hunting and scratching, giving no prejudice to flower beds or dunghill; if there is scratching to be done, Leghorns are the chickens for the job. On range they are splendid foragers and small eaters. The breed is prolific, highly fertile, and hardy.
